Witania English Salon is an English speaking-practice app. It runs speech recognition and language-model inference on your device. We do not operate an account server, do not sell data, and do not include advertising or analytics SDKs.
1. Data the app uses

Audio recordings may be kept locally on your device so you can replay your answers. They are removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app. We cannot access them.
2. Third-party services
- Google Text-to-Speech (optional). If you select the Google voice engine, the text to be spoken is passed to Google's TTS service on your device, subject to Google's privacy policy. You can choose the offline voice engine in Settings to keep synthesis on-device.
- Model hosting and downloads. The app downloads speech, voice, and language models over HTTPS from our distribution hosts (GitHub releases, Google Play Asset Delivery, or Cloudflare R2). Those hosts process standard request information (such as IP address and user agent) for delivery and abuse prevention; no account or practice data is sent. Downloads are versioned and can be integrity-checked against a published SHA-256 manifest.
- Support email. If you email
support@witania.com, Cloudflare Email Routing processes the message and forwards it to our support inbox. We use your email address and message only to reply. Please do not send sensitive personal data by email. - Website. This policy and the store pages are hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes standard request logs for security and delivery.
- Google Play (purchases). If you buy a subscription, payment is processed by Google Play. We receive entitlement status and a purchase token, not your card details. (Applies once billing is enabled.)
No advertising networks, analytics SDKs, crash-reporting services, or social SDKs are included.
3. Permissions
- Microphone (
RECORD_AUDIO) — required for speaking practice. It is requested when you first use a speaking feature. Audio is processed on-device. - Internet — required to download models and, if selected, to use Google TTS.
The release build does not request all-files access (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE).
4. Accounts and deletion
The app uses a local master password; there is no Witania server account and no email sign-up. To delete your account and personal data in the app, open Settings → Account → Delete account and data while logged in. This removes the local account, conversations, practice history, settings, and the local age attestation (so age verification runs again); downloaded models remain on the device. You can also use Android Settings → Apps → Witania Salon → Storage → Clear data, or uninstall the app.
5. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because all processing is on-device, no personal data is transmitted to us.
6. Security
Practice data and account hashes are stored in the app's private storage. Model files are stored in app-private storage. Android system backup is disabled for the app, so practice data is not copied to a cloud backup. No method of storage is completely secure, but the app is designed to keep data on your device.
7. AI-generated content
Conversation replies and practice feedback are generated by an on-device language model and may be inaccurate or inappropriate. They are for practice only and are not an official IELTS result. Do not rely on them for exam decisions.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date above will change, and material changes will be noted in the app or store listing.
